A Lifetime Dedicated to Criminal Defense in Mobile, Alabama

My name is James M. Byrd. I am a Mobile, Alabama criminal defense attorney with roots deeply planted in this community. Born in Mobile and raised with a profound respect for justice, I come from a family of criminal defense lawyers and always knew this would be my calling.

After graduating from The University of Alabama with degrees in Political Science and History, I attended The University of Alabama School of Law. In 1979, I passed the Alabama State Bar and immediately returned to Mobile to begin my criminal defense practice. I have continued that work every single day since October 1979.

Over the past four decades, I have defended individuals charged with everything from misdemeanors to serious federal felonies. My sole focus is criminal defense because I believe everyone deserves skilled, experienced representation regardless of the charges they face.
